The absence of the president provoked protests across the nation. In the beginning of the video, BBC speaks to Jamila Tangaza who defends the conference that President Yar' Adua held earlier, denying allegations that the voice from the teleconference was that of an imposter. The president;s decision to conceal the state of his health/presidency questions the legitimacy of Nigeria's claims to being a democratic state. It is a democratic nation that enables its citizens to elect a president on their own accord. It is the concealment of the president's health that revoked this right and liberty.
